About GraceWorks

Thoughts From Pastor Dave Hyatt

Q: As the pastor overseeing GraceWorks, what do you feel it's all about?

A: GraceWorks is an opportunity for us to really demonstrate that Jesus' love has changed our lives. It's a chance for us to engage with people who need to see God's love perhaps before they can understand it.

Q: What exactly does that look like?

A: It looks like God's people humbly and joyfully serving others and openly sharing the hope that we have found in Christ. That might be in a soup kitchen, a laundromat or cleaning up a littered inner city street.

Q: What Bible passage do you think helps people best understand this event?

A: There are so many biblical examples of this! But the one we are focusing on is Matthew 5:16 where Jesus commands us as His followers to "let your light (good deeds) shine before men, that they may see you good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

GraceWorks is demonstrating that Grace really does work! Grace works itself out in the life of followers of Christ as they seek to serve and truly love others. Grace works on us and through us! wprl

Q: How can our congregation get involved? A: Right now, we are accepting project submissions. What that means is that if you have a idea of something that we can work on as a church please submit that as an idea. In a couple of weeks we are going to be opening up the sign-ups for those who'd like to help with working on projects. We need lots of different skills (and folks like me without skills!) to sign-up!

Over the past couple of years we've had the joy of showing and sharing Christ's love and hope with so many through GraceWorks! There were single moms about to loose their home because they needed repairs, roofs that were leaking so badly that an elderly couple was living in a camper in a parking lot and many other people that God gave us the opportunity to serve. We are looking forward to see how God works this year!
